At the heart of the old fishing-village of Poulton. The current name and decor - dark, low-beamed, flagged floors, tables shaped like casks, unique stained-glass windows - date from 1960. There a vast collection of mostly nautical artefacts. Small garden. Camra members get 10p discount on production of their membership cards. Regular folk music. Quiz night. Opened in 1640 as the New House, later the Fishermen's Arms. Known as Birkett's Hotel for most of the 19th and 20th century. An eighteenth-century single-storey extension at the front. Weston's Old Rosie and Weston's Perry.

7 July 2008From Monday 21st July, the Smugglers' Den will have a cask ale free of tie from Punch Taverns that will allow them to stock cask ales from microbreweries in Lancashire and Cumbria.
