Barker House Village 01524 592824

Independent brewery cask beers

At least two ales. Lancaster, Copper Dragon, Acorn and Barngates feature regularly. Eight pumps.

A modern student bar, more like a pub than most, with a better beer range and (as the name suggests) the age-range is slightly higher than in most. Some undergraduates drink here as well since the choice of beer is so much better here than in most of the other campus bars. Only University members, staff, guests and people carrying a Good Beer Guide served. Big beer festival in June and sometimes others.

Open Open 7(6 Fri, 8 Sun)-11. Vacation: 8-11 Mon - Sun
Food:
Getting there: Getting there: the Graduate College lies in a confusing cluster of buildings south-west of the main campus (Alexandra Park), served by buses 3, X3, 4. The bar is signed ‘Gradbar’ on Barker Square.

News:

7 October 2003

The Graduate College Bar will soon have eight handpumps with Goose Eye and Jennings beers permanent.

31 December 2003

The steward of the Graduate College Bar is planning to leave soon.

11 February 2004

It seems that rumours that the steward of the Graduate College Bar was leaving were a negotiating ploy for a better contract. I am now assured he is staying.
