If you hail from Lancashire, then a mention of celebrities hailing from the region wouldnt surprise you. However, there are some celebrities that most people don’t realize hail from the beautiful county of Lancashire. The stars on this list include people who were born and raised in Lancashire or who moved to the county after birth.

Abbey Clancy

Abbey is a well-known figure who carved her career as a lingerie model and performed on the ramp around the world. She married Peter Croch the Stoke player. Abbey appeared in several favorite shows such as in ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ as a Runner up, in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as the winner in the eleventh season and in ‘100 Sexiest women in the world’ – A FHM’s annual.

Mark Owen

Mark Owen is famous for his impressive vocal talent. He was born in Lancashire, England in Oldham. He and his mother lived in a small council house. Owen played football for ‘Chadderton FC’ before venturing into a career in music. In December 1993, Owen sang on ‘Babe’ and ‘The Day after Tomorrow’ as a solo vocalist. Mark Owen is better known for his participation in the band ‘Take That.’

Victoria Wood

Victoria Wood is prominent for her BBC comedy award-winning role ‘Dinnerladies’ that she co-produced and wrote. Victoria was awarded in 1997 with an OBE, and she honored Lancashire with pride in her acceptance speech. In 2005 again she received the British comedy award for her contribution towards comedy. Truly a successful, proud Lancashire local.

Jimmy Anderson

Burnley’s James Anderson, a sporting hero, is another popular name from East Lancashire. He is a successful bowler for the England Cricket Team taking 851 wickets across several matches. His debut play was at 19 for Lancashire, and now the County Cricket ground at Lancashire has a stand honoring his name.

Sir Ian McKellen

Sir Ian McKellen is a pure-bred Lancastrian. He earned his fame from the ‘Lord of the Rings – Trilogy’ as Gandalf and in ‘X-Men’ as Magneto.  Appearing in more than 45 movies in his career, Sir Ian McKellen appeared on the big screens, and this East Lancashire actor even won 6 Laurence Olivier Awards, a Golden Globe Awards, a Tony award, 2 Oscar nominations, 5 Emmy Awards nominations, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and 4 BAFTA nominations. He is one of the more well-known personalities on this list, amongst the locals.

Amy Abigail Nuttall

Amy Nuttall’s birthplace is Blackburn, Lancashire. She was born on the 7th of June 1982. She performed in theater and played the lead role in Aurelius as Princess Ismene at the Tyne Opera House, Edinburg Assembly Rooms and Newcastle in 1997 August. She is a singer and English actress well-known for her ITV soap opera ‘Emmerdale.’ She played Chloe Atkinson from 2000 to 2006 and in another period drama on ITV’ Downtown Abbey’ as a housemaid.

Jordan North

Jordan North is from Burnley, Lancashire. He is known to be an international DJ for English radio and is on BBC Radio 1 as the show host. He completed his graduation in Media Production and participated in a Bauer Radio competition and won ‘The Hits Radio’ a Sunday show. He worked at Preston FM Community Station and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, an in-house radio station.  He worked at BBC Radio 5 as a producer and researcher and was also presenting shows on Capital Manchester and Capital North East. Later he worked with Rock FM for 18 months and also appeared in the BBC Radio 1, radio shows, as a freelance cover presenter.
